How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your PDF

Choose the file you want to read. Pages load as you scroll, so long documents open quickly.

  2. 2

Scroll to read, use the plus and minus buttons to zoom, and type a page number to go straight to it.

  3. 3

    Search the text

Type a word or phrase and press Enter. Matching passages are highlighted on the pages and you get a list of the pages that contain them.

  4. 4

Common use cases

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded to read it?

Yes. Pages are prepared by our server so they display consistently on every device. On the free plan, uploaded files are set to be deleted automatically after about an hour. Uploads can be up to 25 MB.

Why does search say no text was found?

The PDF is probably a scan, which is pictures of pages rather than real text. You can still read it, but searching needs text recognition (OCR) first. Our OCR guide explains how.

Can I read a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Use the Unlock PDF tool first, with the password, and then open the unlocked copy.

Why does search highlight a whole line?

Matches are highlighted by the segment of text they appear in, so you see the passage rather than only the exact word. The list of pages tells you where to look.

Can I download or print from here?

This page is for reading. To keep a copy, use your original file. To change the document, use the editing, merging, splitting or compression tools.
